There’s a myth about how doing long workouts gets you results. Here’s why that’s just not true:
Long and punishing workouts are proven to ramp up the stress hormones in your body, especially the one called CORTISOL. In normal doses, cortisol is great because it actually helps the body to burn fat!
However, in high doses such as those produced by the body being subjected to long and stressful exercise, it forces the body into a different mode. This is called “protection mode” and its unfortunately effect makes the body store more fat, and particularly around your midriff - the stomach and on the hips.
The fat produced by high levels of the cortisol hormone turns into the stubborn fat that’s almost impossible to lose, at least for as long as your cortisol remains at high levels.
The biggest problem however is that the fat produced is of the kind that increases our risk of three terrible afflictions: diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
