TRAINING SYSTEMS are dealt with separately to DIETS.  Where the diet has been designed or devised to regulate and specify the food consumption, such as "Low Carbs" we call it simply a DIET, but where there is some coaching,  or lifestyle and exercise involved, that is a TRAINING system. 

There are thousands of different training regimes which offer to help with losing weight.  They are certainly NOT all the same, although some may be similar to some others.

It's impossible for anyone to check out all the available opportunities, so we have selected some of the easiest and 'best for value' ones and focused on those. We have carefully evaluated each of them, noted the effects the  diets have and our findings are included in this web site.

There seem to be three main types of training to achieve Weight Loss.

  • Mind conditioning
  • Calorific regulation
  • Physical exercise

The first two types of weight loss are dealt with in other sections.  

Mind Conditioning

Some of the training relies heavilly on  mind reconditioning, encouraging the user to believe several concepts and have confidence in their own abilities and will power. 

Some people call this HYPNOSIS, or autosuggestion. We have found that these DO work.  We are currently evaluating several diets that rely largely on auto-suggestion, hypnosis and other forms of mind control.

So far we can report only that they DO work - as to how well we are still considering our findings, but the result will appear on the website shortly.

Diet Books

There are hundreds of books about diet and nutrition. There are perhaps even tens of thousands of books if one includes those titles which are now 'out of print' and no longer easily obtainable! 

We have found very few diet books that credibly describe diets that we are certain actually DO work.  

Some of the most useful diet books will be those general ones concerned with NUTRITION and the caloriefic content of particular food stuffs.  There are several of these which we do highly recommend. See the Book Page. 

Other books which you will probbably find very helpful are the titles about one particular diet regime. The ones that spring to mind now are the Paleo diet books and those about the Low GL diet.   Several are written by the man or woman who devised the diet.

Our Diet Book pages discuss only those diet books that we can recommend and are relevant to diets discussed on other pages on the Diets That Work site.

Where appropriate we have included a link to the publisher or to Amazon where they have a good deal on that particular title.

Equipment


The beauty of many of the diets we found that worked best were those that did not require a lot of equipment. Those that involved any exercise at all relied on everyday items as 'props'. 

There is a very wide range of exercise and fitness equipment on the market now, although it can be very intimidating visiting the showrooms where such items are on display.

Over zealous salesmen (and they are always men, rarely are women allowed onto the shop floor to sell fitness equipment!) will pounce, with their 'oh so superior' attitude and dismissive air and attitude.  There's none of that here at Diets That Work, and you won't find any of it at DKN's on line service, we can guarantee that!

Diet Training

We enrolled on various diets over a period and interviewed others who had tried various courses with a qualified trainer is both in charge of the conduct of the course and provides ongoing advice. 

This type of 'led' course is probably the best, especially if you have previously not had much success on diets, as that extra help can help keep you on track as well as provide ongoing mentoring and support.

Some other diet evaluations are still ongoing,
we shall publish the results as soon as they're available.
