The following items are often regarded as bad, however they also figure in many diets, and are perfectly healthy, when consumed in small reasonable amounts:
 
Wine: Quality red wine is high in antioxidants and beneficial nutrients.
 
Dark Chocolate: Choose one that has 70% or higher cocoa content. Quality dark chocolate is very nutritious and extremely healthy.

B Avoid: 
All processed foods, sugar, soft drinks, artificial sweeteners,  most dairy products, legumes, grains, vegetable oils, margarine and trans fats.
 
You should especially avoid all these ingredients, found in many modern dishes, especially in restaurants.
 
Sugar and Corn Syrup
(Soft drinks, fruit juices, table sugar, candy, pastries, ice cream and many others).
Grains: Includes breads and pastas, wheat, spelt, rye, barley, etc.
Legumes: beans, lentils etc
Dairy: Avoid most dairy, especially low-fat (some versions of paleo dishes do have full-fat dairy like butter and cheese).
Vegetable Oils: Soybean oil, sunflower oil, cottonseed oil, corn oil, grapeseed oil, safflower oil and others.
Trans Fats: Found in margarine and various processed foods. Usually referred to as “hydrogenated” or “partially hydrogenated” oils.
Artificial Sweeteners: 
Aspartame, Sucralose, Cyclamates, Saccharin, Acesulfame Potassium. Use natural sweeteners instead, such as LoHan or Monk Fruit.
Highly Processed Foods: (Everything labelled “diet” or “low-fat” or has many weird ingredients). 
 
 
C. Drinks

When it comes to hydration, pure water is essential for your metabolism and should always be your drink of choice.
 
The following drinks  aren’t exactly paleo, but most people drink them and you should note the following:
 
Tea is very healthy and loaded with antioxidants and various beneficial compounds. Green tea is best.
 
Coffee is very high in antioxidants as well. Studies show that it has many health benefits. Irregular coffee can have less caffeine than regular so is unlikely to have much effect on heart rate, but it should only be drunk in moderation.

Basic Paleo Diet Rules

 
A. Eat:
'Fair Game' are all real, unprocessed paleo foods, such as meats, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, healthy fats and oils.
 
 
Meats: Beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, pork and others.
Fish and Seafood: Salmon, trout, haddock, shrimp, shellfish, etc. Choose wild-caught if you can.
Eggs: Choose free-range, pastured or omega-3 enriched eggs.
Vegetables: Broccoli, kale, peppers, onions, carrots, tomatoes, etc.
Fruits: Apples, bananas, oranges, pears, avocados, strawberries, blueberries and more.
Tubers: Potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, turnips, etc.
Nuts and Seeds: Almonds, macadamia nuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and more.
Healthy Fats and Oils: Lard, tallow, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil and others.
Salt and Spices: Sea salt, himalayan salt, garlic, turmeric, rosemary, etc.
 
Grass-fed, pasture raised and organic foods are the best foods for you, if they are affordable.  If not, then just make sure to always go for the least processed option.

Coconut Flour

Thick, fluffy and perfectly sweet Paleo Pumpkin Coconut Pancakes can be made completely dairy-free, gluten-free and grain-free. You simply use coconut flour, and everyone knows how good cocnut products can be for you (if not see our COCONUT page - its delicious and nutritious!)
 
Pancakes can make some people sick.  This is because they usually contain refined flour, sugar and syrup - not good for anyone and very bad for those who have an allergy to thw wheat or the dairy products in them,.
 
But its not necessary to have them with wheat flour or milk. This recipe avoids that and the end result is simply delicious.
Paleo diet coconut flour  pancakes

Coconut Flour Pancakes

Ingredients
3 large eggs
½ cup unsweetened coconut milk
½ t-spoon of  vanilla extract
1 Tablesppons of  maple syrup
½ cup canned pumpkin
3 Tablespoon of  coconut flour
½ t cinnamon
½ t baking soda
¼ t salt
Coconut oil for greasing
 
Recipe
To make the pancakes, simply combine the wet ingredients in a bowl and sift the dry ingredients together in a separate bowl. Then fold the dry batter into the wet batter and bake. Because they’re made with coconut flour, they are more difficult to flip. Let them cook 5 minutes or more until they bubble. This takes patience, but will set them up for easy flipping and you will get to enjoy some very thick and delicious pancakes!
